Home Pro Match (“we”, “us”, “our”) is an online service that helps homeowners in New York State find local contractors and compare quotes. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it and the choices you have. It applies to our website and to anything you send us through it.

Information we collect

The information we collect depends on how you use Home Pro Match.

Homeowners

  • Your name, email address and phone number
  • Your preferred way to be contacted
  • Your project details, including the type of work, description, ZIP code, budget range and ideal start date
  • Photos you choose to upload with your project

Contractors

  • Account and contact details
  • Business details such as company name, registration details and insurance information
  • The trades you offer and the ZIP code areas you cover
  • Profile content, quotes and messages you send through the service

Everyone

  • Messages you send us, for example through our contact form
  • Reviews you write or reply to
  • Basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and device, which our website and hosting provider record automatically

How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • Match projects with relevant local contractors and share each project with a limited number of them, usually up to three
  • Let contractors send you quotes and questions
  • Review contractor business details before profiles go live
  • Set up and manage accounts
  • Reply to your messages and provide support
  • Keep the website secure, prevent misuse and fix problems
  • Meet our legal obligations

Who we share it with

We share your information only where needed to run the service:

  • Matched contractors. If you post a project, your project details and contact details are shared with the contractors matched to it so they can quote.
  • Homeowners. Contractors’ profile and business information is visible to homeowners considering them.
  • Service providers. Companies that help us run the service, such as website hosting and email delivery. They may only use your information on our instructions.
  • Authorities. Where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or others.

We do not sell your personal information.

Our lawful bases

We only use your information where we have a valid reason to do so, and in line with applicable US and New York State law. Our main reasons are:

  • Contract and pre-contract steps to provide the matching service you ask for
  • Legitimate interests to keep the service safe, improve it and review contractors, balanced against your rights
  • Consent where we ask for it, for example when you agree to share your project with matched contractors. You can withdraw consent at any time
  • Legal obligation where we must keep or disclose information by law

Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies that are needed for it to work, such as keeping contractors logged in to their dashboard. If we add other types of cookies, such as analytics, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires.

How long we keep your information

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, including to resolve disputes and meet legal requirements. When we no longer need it, we delete or anonymise it.

Keeping your information secure

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No online service can be completely secure, so please use strong, unique passwords and tell us if you suspect your account has been misused.

International transfers

Some of our service providers may process information outside the United States. Where this happens, we take steps to make sure your information is protected as required by applicable law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete

Children

Home Pro Match is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make significant changes, we will take reasonable steps to let you know.
