Homeowners

Posting a project

Everything you need to know before you ask for quotes.

Yes. Posting a project and receiving quotes is free, and you are under no obligation to hire anyone.

Choose the type of work, describe the job, add your ZIP code, budget range and ideal start date, then tell us how contractors can reach you. Photos are optional and the whole form only takes a few minutes.

The more detail the better: what needs doing, rough sizes, materials you have in mind, access and any deadlines. Photos of the area or plans help trades quote accurately.

Additions and new builds, kitchens, bathrooms, roofing, attic conversions, electrical, plumbing and heating, landscaping and gardens, painting and decorating, windows and doors, flooring and general building work. Choose Something else if your job does not fit a category.

Yes. You can add up to five photos (JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 8 MB each) when you post your project.

Quotes and contractors

Getting and comparing quotes

How matching works and what to expect from the trades who contact you.

We share each project with a limited number of relevant trades, usually up to three, so you get a choice without being overwhelmed.

Matched trades reply with estimated costs, timelines, company details and any questions about the job.

No. Compare proposals and profiles, then contact the contractor you prefer. There is no obligation to hire.

Ask for the scope of work, who supplies materials, timings, payment stages and anything that is excluded. Get the final details in writing before you agree.

Before a profile goes live we review the business details contractors give us, such as company registration and insurance. You should still check documents and references yourself before agreeing any work.

Reviews can only be left by homeowners who hired a contractor through Home Pro Match, and each one is tied to a completed project. Contractors can reply publicly, so you see both sides.

Your details, safety and where we work

What happens to your information and what to check before work starts.

Your contact details are only shared with the contractors matched to your project, so they can quote. See our privacy policy for full details.

We are building our contractor network across New York State. Contractors choose the ZIP code areas they work in, and projects are only sent to trades who cover your ZIP code.

Gas and electrical work should be done by a properly licensed professional, and often needs a permit and inspection. Licensing rules in New York are set locally, so ask to see proof of licensing and insurance before work starts.

Yes. We review business details before a profile goes live, but you should always check insurance, references and examples of previous work before agreeing any job.

For contractors

Joining and receiving projects

How to get set up and how projects reach you.

Contractors create a profile, choose their trades and ZIP code areas, and receive matching projects.

You can create a free basic profile. Any paid options will always be shown clearly before you sign up for them.

Your business details, such as company registration and insurance, the trades you do and the ZIP code areas you cover. We review them before your profile goes live.

Yes. Contractors only see projects that fit their trade and service area, and each project is shared with a limited number of trades.
